Get picked up from your hotel at 8:30 AM in an air conditioned vehicle and head off to Hun Sen Beach Fishing Port. Watch fishermen do their day to day activities. They head towards the open sea at night and return to the port early in the morning with their catch. See local boats lined up at the port while the fishermen unload their catch and spend the day repairing and preparing their casting nets for the next catch.
Visit Wat Krom: This is the pagoda where many residents of Sihanoukville practice Buddhism. Here you may see monks chanting and young monks learning Pali, the sacred language of the Buddhist scriptures. Most of the pagodas in town are brightly painted and decorated with deities represented by hooded snakes, particularly king cobras. They are called nagas. a Sanskrit word for snake.
Golden Lion Roundabout Named for its statues of these majestic beasts, the roundabout built in 1996 reflects the importance of the lion, which has become a symbol of Sihanoukville. The roundabout is located approximately 6 kilometers (4 miles) southeast of cruise pier.
Visit Central Market This bustling local market encompasses more then 1,000 vendors and is known for extraordinary seafood, which you will see displayed along with fresh vegetables and unusual items such as palm sugar, a natural sweetener.
Visit Victory Beach As it is the closest to the pier, this beach can sometimes be a bit crowded but still has the elegant sands and swaying palms that have made Sihanoukville a famed beach destination. The beach is located approximately 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) south of the cruise pier.
Visit Independence Beach Named after the seven-story Independence Hotel, this beach is popular with both tourists and locals. The beach is located approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) south of the cruise pier.
Visit Sokha Beach Although this beach is privately owned by the Sokha Beach Resort, it can be accessed for a small fee by those not staying at the hotel. Unlike many beaches in Sihanoukville, Sokha Beach does not have panhandlers or locals trying to sell trinkets to tourists the beach is located approximately 6 kilometers (4 miles) southeast of the cruise pier.
Lunch Break
Visit Ochheuteal Beach Stretching for 3 kilometers (2 miles), the northern end of this white sandy beach is called Serendipity Beach. A big hit with tourists, this beach features everything from beach huts serving drinks and local delicacies to a golf course and a number of hotels and restaurant. Personal watercraft are not kept at a proper distance from swimmers, so if you choose to swim, use caution so as to avoid injury. The beach is located next to Sokha Beach, approximately 6 kilometers (4 miles) from the cruise pier.
Visit Otres Beach One of the least-crowded beaches, Otres boasts 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) of pristine sand. Rent a kayak, take a catamaran ride or go windsurfing. The beach is located approximately 13 kilometers (8 miles) from the cruise pier.
Shopping In stores and markets throughout town, look for seashell sculptures and other similar items. The scale models of Cambodian fishing boats are souvenirs unique to Sihanoukville. The handmade models are very detailed wooden miniatures of the same fishing boats that can be seen at the nearby fishing Port.
The tour ends with a drop off to your hotel or at the port.
